Bears On Patrol

I have some really wonderful friends, who do some pretty amazing things. I often want to write about them and I am not sure what to say, so in this case, I asked my friend, Blake to pretend I was a newspaper reporter, and tell me everything I need to pass on to my readers. If he did that, I would draw a picture to lure them in ;). He did a fabulous job, and this is exactly what he shared with me.

"Bears on Patrol provides police officers with teddy bears to help distract and comfort small children in traumatic or stressful situations. An average four year old's eye level is at a police officer's gun and utility belt, so it helps the officers establish with the kids that they are the "good guys" when they have a teddy bear.

The Philadelphia Police Department has made a request for 1,000 bears. These bears will be distributed throughout several divisions, including Homicide, Special Victims, Narcotics, Major Crimes, and Criminal Intelligence. As you probably realize, these divisions deal with serious crimes that would put the children in very traumatic situations.

We are currently only operating with the funds that we had when we started, and funding this project will take several thousand dollars, but I know we can do it. Every donation, even $1, will go a long way toward helping us reach our goal. Donations can be made through the donation module on our home page at http://www.bearsonpatrol.org or at http://www.bearsonpatrol.org/donate.htm."

Thanks so much for thinking of us and posting this. Every bit of visibility helps us spread the word about what we're trying to do. This is a bunch of money to raise, but I really think we can do it.
